You turn around for one second...Bam he gets the food I left on the table. Brodie found a banana pudding Gerber food, and he thought it would be a good "dessert". Coen didn't like it much. I think we are moving to finger foods quickly...

Anyway, you know what they say when the baby is quiet...someone is getting in trouble! I guess he liked it more if he could feed himself.

OH NO!!!!!

AND he is starting to monkey crawl (on feet and hands).

TOUR de FAT

We had such a great time at the Tour de Fat today! It's a northwest thing currently. Basically its a traveling beerfest/carnival put on by a microbrewery located in Ft. Collins, CO (http://www.newbelgium.com/events/tour-de-fat.aspx)! Its pretty awesome if you ask me.This is our 5th year going and our 4th year riding.

They start the festivities off with a bike ride parade thru downtown Boise. Everyone is encouraged to wear their wacky and silly costumes. We saw quite a few Waldo's, men dressed as women, garden gnomes, cowboys, hippy dippies and the like. This is one of my favorite events by far, as we rock a bit of the crazy ourselves :D ! This year we played it low key and just dressed sorta silly with short shorts and knee high socks (Brodie rocks it at 6'4"! Unfortunately no pics of him). The 20 minute ride heads back to the park for a free beer festival. Clowns, concerts, burlesque tents (yes seriously! though G rated) beer drinking bike races. OMG...seriously its awesome. Anyway, this was Coen's first year and he was a STUD! He fell asleep during the bike ride, beat the heat with daddy and then fell BACK asleep on the ride home. It was HOT HOT HOT, but a ton of fun and a good day for the ol' memory bank :)

**Before you ask why we took a baby to a beer festival, I must stress that its TOTALLY family friendly. They have little booths of puppet shows going, clowns with balloons, silly bikes with shoes for wheels to ride around on...

We got a great pic with some of our fav caped crusaders! Though Coen wasn't impressed.

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

We've been really enjoying these cool mornings. To get ready for the fall bike rides that we are such a fan of, Coen and I have been trying to go every morning! So far he loves it. It took a few rides to get the hang of it, but now he just stares and talks the whole time. Today was our first time with just Me, Coen and Jackson. Both boys did great, and I stayed upright!
Yay Mommy, lol.

I can't get enough of this kid!

This is how we roll

Coen @ 8 months
Little man got his shot today and was weighed in at 23lbs and 28.5 inches. It puts him in the 90% for weight, 80% height and 75% for head. Another 2 teeth in (total 3) and two pushing in the front.

He is so much fun and becoming such an amazing kid!

He is army crawling (and pushes with his toes) and still doing various yoga moves :)
This teething thing is pretty crappy, but he remains the happy fellow for the most part. He loves to eat the cereal snacks and is doing pretty well with some of the purees we have tried. We are taking it slow since he doesn't seem super interested in eating more than a few bites here and there. On date nights he takes a bottle but wants to hold it himself. He can ALMOST sit himself up, but tends to get caught in a lean usually. He seems to like it because he sits like that for a bit. He is SO chubby that he has tan lines between the cracks of his pudge. Its stinkin adorable.

He has the sippy cup down and has started to drink water like its going out of style! I don't know if its because its summer and hot, or if this is just how he is. Wearing 12-18mo clothing and size 4 shoe.

always "getting" jackson.
Coen @ 7 months
Can't believe my little dude is 7 months old already! He got his shot yesterday and was weighed and measured.
21lbs 10oz, 27 3/4inches.

He's currently got one tooth out, one tooth cutting through right now. And unfortunately poor dude...all four of his upper teeth look like they are next. The gums there are red, swollen and showing white :( They may take a bit longer, but they are knocking on the door! He is THISCLOSE to crawling, but having fun doing planks, pushups and downward dog. He can get somewhere by army crawling though. I don't count that as crawling yet. Still not eating solids, though on occasion he has some of the little puffs as treats and to get him used to pinching and grabbing. We read a lot of books, but mostly he likes to quickly close the book and look at the back of it. So we look at a lot of the backs of books, hahaha. He is so happy!

Here are some pics of the cutie.

My favorite

Brodie's favorite

Coen @ 6 months
Yesterday was Coen's half birthday! Our little man is getting bigger and bigger each day. I swear I wake up in the morning and he has a new chin, hahaha. We had our 6 month check up and Coen is 20lbs even and 27inches with a 17inch head. That puts him in the 90% for weight, 75% for height and only 45% for head size. He still looks proportional, no he is not a pin head :)

He has been sitting up by himself for awhile, but he is way more steady now and can stay up longer. He hasn't started solids yet (we stopped after that 3rd try after a scary ER visit), and his doctor was very surprised and happy considering how big he is as exclusively breast fed! Brodie and I have been enjoying playing with him more and more each day. He is totally alert (stays awake for 2.5-3hr increments) and has SUCH a personality. His napping is better and we are working on sleeping in his crib at night. The doctor felt the tip of one of his bottom teeth coming up and predicted it showing in a few weeks. He can work his knees up under him, but is still working on getting his arms up under his shoulders. We did get him on a fours for a quick bit, and we work on it every day. He is soooo strong and shakes in excitement when trying new things.

Last weekend in the mountains he surprised us all (and maybe himself he was so dang proud) by standing at the coffee table for a long time! He was bouncing while standing and smiling up a storm. Yay strong little guy!!

at the hotsprings (it was sooo bright)

and standing at the cabin! (not a good angle for his face, but he had a big ol grin) He even started to slip and he righted himself. He would be steady, then bounce and then steady again.

Coen @ 5 months
Coen is getting awesome at sitting unassisted for minutes at a time. He is a stander as well, any opportunity he gets he'd rather be standing. He can pull himself up from laying down to a seated or standing position just by some help from your fingers. He can roll both ways, but sometimes forgets he can roll from his belly to back. He loves to "talk" but his newest thing is yelling. Which neither Brodie or I are fans of. He is always smiling and laughing though. I can't get enough of it.
This is the 3rd time we tried solids and though he made a face, he eagerly wanted more and about attacked my hand trying to get the spoon in his mouth the first spoonful. Hahaha. I think he is getting more ready. Though later that night he had some belly issues, so we are taking it slow. Maybe try this out 1-2x a week.
Check up: 18lbs 8oz, 26.5 inches tall

Coen @4months old.
Rolls both ways and says NO to the swaddle, sigh. Add sitting alone to the list of feats. He is getting on his own napping schedule and has started to take 3 one hour naps during the day. MUCH better than sleeping for 30min every 2 hrs. Hahaha. Coen has started playing with his toys, rather than just smack at them, which is fun to watch. We go for walks twice a day and he just lays there looking at the trees (still in his carrier attached to the stroller). He gets so quiet looking at the sky and clouds. He really is something :)

He fits into 6-12 clothing for the most part, into 9 months in his onesies/jammies. And a size 3 diaper.

Check up: 80% for weight at 17lbs and 90% for height at 26 1/2 Inches.
He got two shots today and didn't cry once! What a strong little man ;)

Coen @ 3 months old
3 months old and a bucket of giggles. With the right amount of adult ridiculousness and a little tickling...he laughs. He really enjoys tummy time and has pulled himself over the boppy quite a few times. Face plant...with many more to come. At least he keeps trying! He loves chilling in the bumbo looking around and being swung to sleep. He has also discovered Jackson. He saw him before of course, but now he REALLY sees him. Of course Jackson is interested in this squirmy drooling baby too. A little too interested when a poopy diapers is involved :(

check up: 14lbs 15oz, 25.5 inches
