Ack! The boy has started climbing!! One day I turned the corner to our living room, and there he was sitting on the coffee table. Um....wha? how? whyyyyyy?
He is still very cautious about it, but he is ready to explore. Maybe all the trips to the neighborhood parks has gotten him confident in climbing.
Its a long-ish video, but the climbing is at the end. Gotta love his little booty shake when he walks too :))
(yes he was in pjs, but after doing my 4th load from the long weekend...I didn't want to do anymore!)
A few weeks ago we finished Coen's sandbox. We still have to fill in the outside with bark, but that's for another Saturday. Coen really enjoys playing in it. It takes him a little bit to warm up and feel comfy in it though. He is still funny about walking/touching different textures. I have to play in it for 10+ minutes before he is good to explore and play. Usually he is just a pair of shorts, but in this picture he had on jammies from night before.
Lately when ask Coen if he is happy he says "appy" with a big sweet smile. I was trying to get him to do it in the car while we were gassing up, but instead he wanted to be a ham and show off his new "cheese" face.
Yes I know his chest harness is in the wrong spot, so I fixed it before we left. He messes with that thing all the time!
Loving the weather and going outside. Seriously, one day we went on two walks and a bike ride we were so happy to get out. As the days are longer, we are entering a new "up with the sun" phase that we are working on adjusting. Hahahaha. No I cannot get up at 6 am! He woke up all last weekend at 630, and then proceeded to take a 4 hour nap each day. Talk about a bender!
"The toddler opinions". He is full force in this. He wants to do things his way, on his time, in his capacity. Ack! While he learns to be patient and polite, I too find myself needing to learn the same things. Its a struggle to teach him to control his own emotions while being a CONSTANT role model. I swear everything is being observed and filed in that toddler mind of his. The worst show of this, is when he runs over and yells at Jackson "NO!" in his little stern/angry voice. Do I sound like this? Yikes! Of course there are lots of show of his out pouring affection with his stuffed animals, Jackson, us and of course himself. (Yes there are a few times I have "caught" him kissing his reflection in the mirror, hehe).
He wants to do it himself when he eats, when he brushes his teeth, when he combs his hair, washes his hands...and even when he wipes after diaper changes (which of course is out of the question). We got him a couple metal forks/spoons and he loves using them at mealtimes. He has become such a helper when getting dressed. Will lift his leg for pants, and put his hands in the air for a shirt. Its pretty funny because he does all this automatically. Almost as if he is telling ME what article of clothing goes next. Hahahaha.
I'd say he has a vocabulary of 20+ words, plus a variety of animal sounds, he uses on a mostly consistent basis. He has started to make little sentences like "Hi Daddy" and "That's Jackson". He says thank you when he has something he wants you to take. This is a VERY fun game to him. Especially unpacking the recycling bin and one by one handing you each piece saying thank you "Eee shoo". My current favorite thing he does is say flower "ower" and lean over to try and smell. It doesn't matter if its a real flower, a dandelion, or a picture in a book...he always tries to smell it. Cutest.thing.ever. He also now says the words 'all done' when he finished with something, or something is empty. And uses the sign for Please when asking, even when upset and demanding, for something or for help.
We are having so much fun learning letters and finding them at stores and on signs. He is a little sponge! And constantly amazes Brodie and I at his level of understanding, and his budding memory. He may be a fun loving scholar, but mostly he is a silly little boy who likes to run around and fall a lot. A LOT. Gone are the days of the pearly white skin. We are now never without a bruise, a fat lip, a bonked head, scabs and possibly scars. Welcome to toddlerhood I suppose. I do love being the one he comes to for kisses though. Even if he smushes his hand in a drawer...he runs over for a smooch on his "owwwww"s.
Stats: He is nearly exclusively in size 2T, with most of his jammies being 3T, and he is in a size 7 shoe.
